We are committed to the following beliefs as an essential part of being a Christian as they have been held throughout history by the church:
There is one God, creator of all things, infinitely perfect, holy, eternally existent in three co-equal persons, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. God is gracious, merciful, compassionate, abounding in steadfast love and is the righteous judge of all men.
The Lord Jesus Christ is fully God and fully man, begotten by the Holy Spirit and born of a virgin. This unique birth enabled Him to share our human nature but without sin. He purposefully followed His Father's will and died sacrificially as our substitute for every aspect of our salvation. He rose bodily from the dead and ascended to His Father's right hand where He functions as the head of the church and now ministers as our Great High Priest.
The Holy Spirit is personal and fully God. He convicts the world concerning sin, God's righteousness, and the coming judgment. At redemption, He baptizes believers into the body of Christ and comes to indwell them permanently. The Holy Spirit seals Christians and sets them apart to a holy life. His power enables the believer to live a godly life.
The Bible is inspired by God, without error in the original manuscripts and of final authority in all matters of faith and practice. The Bible is to be interpreted literally, grammatically, and in its historical setting with sensitivity to its literary and cultural content.
Human beings were made in the image of God. We were created with a unique ability to have a relationship with God. When Adam and Eve disobeyed God, they and all their descendants became sinners. The relationship between God and humanity was severed and as a result we are liable for eternal judgment and cannot save ourselves.
Salvation is entirely of God's grace through repentance of sin and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ alone and His shed blood. It is accomplished through the rebirth and renewing work of the Holy Spirit who indwells every believer. The Holy Spirit places believers in the body of Christ, restoring their relationship with God and empowering them to live a life that is wholly pleasing to Him. The redeemed are kept eternally secure by the power of Christ through the indwelling and sealing of the Holy Spirit and the intercession of Christ.
The Church is a living organism composed of all true believers with the Lord Jesus Christ as the head. The local church is the expression in its locality of the church universal and functions under the shepherding and care of the Elders. We gather specifically to learn God's word, to build up and encourage one another through fellowship and service, to commemorate the Lord's Supper and for praise, worship, and prayer. We are to evangelize and make disciples of the lost. We believe in the regular observance of the Lord's supper and baptism by immersion for all believers in obedience to God's word. We also believe that every believer has been given spiritual gifts by the Holy Spirit and has both the privilege and responsibility of exercising those gifts under his direction. The function of these gifts is for the work of ministry and the building up of the body of Christ, His church.
We believe in the reality and personality of Satan and demons as created beings infinitely inferior in power and authority to God.
We believe in the imminent return of the Lord Jesus in the air to call believers from this world.
We believe in the bodily resurrection of all people. The saved will live forever with Christ and the unsaved will live forever separated from Him in a state of eternal torment.
